From Coffs Harbour to Melbourne and Kalgoorlie, Emmy winner and three-time Grammy nominated recording artist
Toni Childs is back for another 26 date winter tour bringing her famous power-charged vocals and emotive lyrics to fans everywhere.
Not only will fans be thrilled by favourite hits such as Stop Your Fussin’, Where’s the Ocean, Zimbabwe and Because You’re Beautiful, but also by the news of Toni’s imminent release of her new album Citizens of the Planet – which has been made entirely possible through her fans’ astonishing support.
Devised by Toni Childs, Citizens of the Planet is music and a state-of-the-art live experience. Music meets TED talks meets celebration meets
evolution!
Across the world, fans in 50 countries have raised more than $170,000 towards the funding of the recording, in support of true music ndependence and Toni’s unbridled spirit. Citizens of the Planet is now in its final mixing and mastering phase and due for release in early 2013.
“This tour will be a special thank you to all those who have so willingly supported me to manifest a vision that dispels fear and brings us all together as ‘citizens of this beautiful planet’,” says Toni Childs.
“I am a Citizen of the Planet, my purpose is to inspire! It is time for us to shine and shimmer, and blast the doors off the hinges to our personal cages of limitation! This is our year if we choose it. Let’s declare it, and have the guts to claim it!”
In a recent five month stint Toni Childs wrote and recorded her upcoming album in Canada with producer Joby Baker, Adam Dobres (lead guitar), Bear Erikson (guitar) and Chris Van Sickle (key boards). Her new husband, musician and documentary filmmaker Mik Lavage, created the structured noise on the album, filmed and live-streamed its production. http://www.hawaiistream.com/video/464 and http://www.tonichilds.com/.
“Hooking up with Producer Joby Baker was the missing piece in my evolution pie. I could not be happier with how the album is cooking up. I feel that I’ve stepped through a wormhole – into a whole new vibrant sound,” says Toni. “This is what you hope to do as an artist: grow, evolve, take chances and fly. It’s been important to me to make an album that I feel is relevant to our time. I feel with Citizens of the Planet I’m doing
just that.”
“Now we’re on the homestretch, this tour will galvanise the funds needed to complete last few elements that make an album ready for the world,” says Toni. “I am so proud and happy to say that this album was funded by citizens of the planet. It will be an incredible badge of honour to finish this tour knowing that I can say that this album was 100% fan funded.”
Best known for her heavily R&B-influenced Don’t Walk Away, Toni Childs hit the big time in 1988, when her critically acclaimed debut album Union went Double Platinum in Australia, selling 200,000 albums. The same year she was nominated for three Grammys including Best New Artist. Her second album, House of Hope went three times platinum and in 1997, the release of Many Rivers to Cross caused her Greatest Hits album to go five times platinum, selling over 500,000 albums.
