A mixed bag of films
MAGIC MIKE: Director Steven Soderbergh’s offering showcases a different acting style
from Matthew McConaughey.
He shows-off really well in this tale of a male stripper who teaches a younger entertainer how to make easy money and freestyle partying.
It also stars Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer and Olivia Munn.
THE DARK KNIGHT RISES: Christian Bale, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway take the lead in Christopher Nolan’s exciting finale to this Batman trilogy with a storyline that’s intense and multi-faceted.
THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: Spider-Man is new with Andrew Garfield who is every bit the part (supple and powerful),
but this attempted revival is a mostly redundant remake.
A ROYAL AFFAIR: Mads Mikkelsen, Mikkel Folsgaard and Alicia Vikander star in this beautiful-looking drama about a
famous 18th century Danish court scandal directed by Nikolaj Arcel.
HYSTERIA: Set in the Victorian era, this British romantic comedy is about the remedy of ‘women’s complaints’ that’s directed by Tanya Wexler and stars Maggie Gyllenhaal, Hugh Dancy and Jonathan Pryce.
AND IF WE ALL LIVED TOGETHER?: A moving story that sees five old friends who decide to move in together instead of living in a retirement home.
The film has been written and directed by Stéphane Robelin and stars Jane Fonda, Geraldine Chaplin, Guy Bedos and Daniel Bruhl.
