How do I register?

Click on Register in the top menu bar and complete the registration process. Once you are a registered user you need to login in using the ID and Password you created during the registration process.

How do I submit an article?

You have to be a registered user to be able to submit an article.

Click on Register in the top menu bar and complete the registration process. Once you are a registered user and you are logged in you need to click on Submit Content in the top menu bar.

  • Enter the Title of the article;
  • Select the Section in which you want the article to be displayed (drop down menu);
  • Select the location of the article (drop down menu);
  • Enter some tags or keywords that best describe or index the article;
  • Enter the text content in the content field.

When you have finished press submit. The article will automatically be sent to our editors for review and approval.

I submitted an article but I cannot see it on the site?

All content that is submitted goes through a formal approval process.

Any article or image is reviewed by an Editor. Their job is to ensure the content is appropriate. If an article is incomplete or inappropriate it will be rejected. If an article is appropriate it will be edited for use online and in our network of community newspapers around Australia.

There will be a delay between submission and approval and display. This is due to the approval process.

Please be patient.

How do I add an image to my article?

Follow the steps in How to submit an article.

Once you have completed all the fields and added your article click on Upload images. This will open a separate browser window (NOTE: Ensure you have your pop-up blocked turned off).

Click on the Browse button to find the image you want to upload (NOTE: We support a wide range of image file formats including .bmp, .jpg, .gif and .pdf). Enter a title for the picture. Click Upload. The message your image is being uploaded please wait will be displayed. An image upload should only take a few seconds.

When the process is complete the message will change to File Upload Complete. You can either add more images or click close to close the image upload browser window. Your image will now be uploaded and linked to the article you submitted.

Please note – all images go through a formal review and approval process too. Your image will not immediately go live on the site. One of our editors will need to review and approval the article and image before it is displayed on the site.

How do I search for an article?

Click on search in the top menu bar. Enter a keyword or search term that may relate to an article of interest. Click search.

The search results by default will be listed in most recent order. If you want to list results by most popular click the radio button at the bottom of the search box.

If you are not sure of the search term you can enter text strings (parts of words). For example if I wanted to find articles on Manchester United the following search terms would all work:

  • Manchester United,
  • Manchester,
  • Manch,
  • chester

How do I search for all articles by a particular Author?

Click on search in the top menu bar. Click on Advanced Search. This displays a search window where you can search on a range of fields. These include:

  • Author,
  • Tags,
  • Content,
  • Content Type,
  • Section and
  • Location.

Using just one search field gives you a broader set of results – adding more search criteria narrows your search and extracts a smaller number of results.

Enter the Author name in the Author field and click search – all articles submitted by that Author will appear.

How do I set my preferences?

Setting preferences is only available to registered users. See How do I register?.

Login and click on My Profile in the top menu bar. From the drop down menu select the preferred section – this is the section you want as your default section (i.e. you like sport so you set your default section to sport). Click on your preferred location from the drop-down menu to set as default the preferred location for your content (i.e. select Sydney for all content relevant to Sydney).

When done click on Save Preferences.

How do I create my profile?

Creating a profile is only available to registered users. See How do I register? for details on how to register.

Login and click on My Profile in the top menu bar. Scroll down to the Public View settings and enter your

  • hobbies and interests,
  • location, and
  • details about you.

To save your profile details click on Save Preferences.

How do I view an Author's profile?

Search for particular content (See section on How do I search for an article?) and click on the Author name. This will take you to the public profile of a particular author.

How do I comment on an Article?

Replying to an article is only available to registered users. See How do I register? for details on how to register.

Login and click on the article you want to comment on. Enter the title of your comment, and then enter your comment. When you have finished click Submit. If you want to also upload an image with your comment click on the upload image button prior to clicking submit.

NOTE: All comments also go through a manual approval process so your comment will not automatically appear on the site. An Editor will review and approve your comment. Once this has happened your comment will be live on the site.

How do I add an article to my "Watch" list?

A watch list is a list of articles and their replies which you are interested in following. Creating a watch list is only available to registered users. See How do I register? for details on how to register.

Login and click on the article you want to add to your watch list. A list of watched threads will appear in a list in the top left hand corner of browser.

How do I remove an article from my "Watch" list?

A watch list is a list of articles and their replies which you are interested in following. Creating a watch list is only available to registered users. Login and click on the article you want to remove from your watch list. Scroll down to the bottom of the article. Click on remove article from watch list button. This will immediately remove the article from your watch list.

How do I rate an article?

Rating an article is only available to registered users. See How do I register? for details on how to register.

Login and click on the article you want to rate. Scroll down to the bottom of the article. If you liked the article click on the thumbs up! button – if you didn’t like it click on the thumbs down! button.

Articles are rated by popularity. Articles which have attracted most thumbs up ratings are considered more popular than those with fewer positive ratings.

NOTE: You can only rate an article once. Once you have rated a particular article the thumbs up or thumbs down buttons will change to you have already rated this article this avoids user manipulation of the rating system.

How do I report an article that I find offensive or abusive?

We are passionate about maintaining the integrity of our content. We have a manual approval process in place to ensure all content and image submissions are reviewed and approved.

To ensure this review process is also propagated to our registered users we have provided a report abuse button at the end of each content item (article and image).

Once you have clicked on the report abuse button you are provided a text window where you can explain your reason for reporting the content. Click on the report button to submit.

Do any of the articles I submit get printed?

This website drives content for numerous community newspapers.

Submission of an article to this site provides explicit approval for this article to be used online and in one of those publications. Not all articles will make it to press.

How do I hyperlink the URLs in my article?

When writing an article you frequently may want to refer to a website or provide a link to more information. To make this easier for the reader you can make the web address hyperlinked - this means allowing the link to be clicked to automatically go to that website.

In the body of your article enter the web address as follows: Ezyzine - This will display one word in your article, in this case "Ezyzine" and if the reader clicks on it they will be taken to www.ezyzine.com

How do I display video content?

You have to be a registered user to be able to submit a video.

Click on Register in the top menu bar and complete the registration process. Once you are a registered user and you are logged in you need to click on Submit Content in the top menu bar.

Enter the Title of the video, Select the Section in which you want the video to be displayed (drop down menu), Select the location of the video (drop down menu), enter some tags or keywords that best describe the video.

Currently, this system only supports www.youtube.com. Upload your video to www.youtube.com - for help on how to do this visit their help centre - once your video is uploaded on YouTube copy the Embed code and paste it into the content field. If you want to add some text below the video enter the text now. Click Next, Ignore the image upload section and click Next. To finish the process click submit.

The video will automatically be sent to our editors for review and approval.

I registered for the site but did not get the confirmation email?

Make sure you check your SPAM folder in your InBox as a lot of email providers will mark email from unknown sources in your SPAM folder.

Once you have located the confirmation email, open it and click on the confirmation link - this will activate your account.

I forgot my password - how do I get sent a new one?

Click on Login in the top menu bar. At the bottom of the page click on Forgot your password?.

Enter the user name you registered under. Click submit. Answer the authentication question using the answer you saved when you registered. Click Submit.

The password will be emailed to the email address you used when you originally registered.
